rague, Jan 19 (CTK) - The Prague zoo has acquired a unique pair of Grand Cayman iguanas, thus becoming the only zoo in Europe to keep this reptile, zoo director Miroslav Bobek has told journalists.
Grand Cayman iguana is an endangered rock iguana endemic to the island of Grand Cayman. The Prague zoo has gained a pair of them from a Hungarian breeder.
"From our point of view, the acquisition is a treasure comparable with finding a pot with ancient coins," said Petr Velenský, who is in charge of reptiles in the Prague zoo.
The herbivore reptiles have been on display in the zoo since January 18.
