Feeding , wild hyenas has become a custom in the old walled city of harar ethiopia to discourage hyenas from attacking humans. In some parts of the city where the walls have fallen Wild hyenas used to make their way into the city to scavange for any food while in the process devouring anyone who might be on the streets. And so this ritual takes place outside the city walls . Inorder to discourage them from making their way into the city. Locals have been doing it for half a century , and since then ,hyenas never step , into the city walls.
