CHARLOTTE, North Carolina police are searching for a man they say is connected to the death of a police chief's daughter.
Investigators found Valerie Hamilton's body in a storage unit in Charlotte early Sunday morning. Hamilton had been missing since Wednesday.
Her father is chief of the nearby Concord Police Department.
Michael Neal Harvey is a 34-year-old white male, six feet tall, weighing about 165 to 180 pounds.
He's clean-shaven and has short dark hair with some gray in it.
He was last seen in a white 1996 Chevy Blazer with North Carolina tag ZXE1756.
Police searched an EconoLodge motel where they say Harvey stayed after Hamilton's disappearance.
The man allegedly checked out Friday.
Investigators swarmed Harvey's last known address, just outside of Noda.
Police apparently know how Valerie Hamilton was murdered, but are not releasing details that may hinder the investigation.
Police also are not commenting on the suspect and victim's relationship.
WSOC in Charlotte is reporting that Harvey is a registered sex offender.
Neighbors to Harvey's East 15th Street residence were very upset to learn about his connection to this case.
"It's scary because Thomas Street is a place that we like to go and hang out with friends," said Krissy Danberg. "To think that somebody like that was just lurking around and now lives in our neighborhood is really scary."
