DETROIT (WJBK) -- A violent home invasion ends with rape and murder. One person is dead and four suspects are on the run.
The
sheer violence of what happened inside the house may come as a shock to
you, but a pastor that lives just doors down tells us he saw this
coming and now he wants that house gone. "This is the fourth death related to this house," says Pastor Johnnie Jordan.
This
time the violence landed right on the pastor's door step. It happened
late Tuesday night in the 600 block of Alameda on Detroit's east side. Jordan
was in his home with his family when suddenly, "my granddaughters heard
the [shots]. I heard two, but they heard the ones before I did. And I
heard two. I ran up the stairs to look out my window and that's when I
heard the girl screaming," Jordan tells us. She wasn't just screaming, she was begging for help.
"The girl had collapsed in front of my garage," Jordan says.
The pastor called 911 and stayed with the wounded woman until EMS arrived.
"She told me that there was a body in [the] house."
Detroit
police believe it started with an attempted robbery. Four men busted
into the house, shot and killed one man, then shot a woman and raped
another woman. Both women survived the attacks, but the suspects got
away. Police believe it is a drug house, but Pastor Jordan knows it is a drug house -- a haven for crack-cocaine and heroin.
"They
come across Eight Mile and [hit] the drug house, stay for awhile and
then head back across Eight Mile Road," he says. "We had called about
this house, we called time and time again." Detroit police have
raided the house before, but the pastor says nothing really changes, and
now, after this latest murder, he wants the City of Detroit to do what
he has been calling for all along -- tear this dilapidated house down. "If they don't destroy that house, a few months, they'll be up and running again," he tells us.
Despite the violence, Pastor Jordan says he and his church are not giving up hope and they will be there for the long haul.
"I'm not going to let them run me out of my home and away from my church."
Police are searching for the men behind this crime. If you have any information, call Detroit police.
