The explosion took place at 08.42 on March 31 near the police vehicle in Kizlyar near the border of Dagestan and Chechnya in southern Russia. 15 minutes later suicide bomber worn police uniform approached the law-enforcement officers arrived at the site and detonated another bomb.

As a result of the explosions, 12 people have been killed, nine of them were police officers, including the Kizlyar police chief. Also, 23 people have been hospitalized with various injuries.
