How Does the Work of Nixon Affect Us Today? Nixon Doctrine Revisited

The Nixon doctrine revisited.

For those that think that Dick Nixon is not relevant to what is affecting policy, think again, the ghost of his work is still very present.

Take some time to listen to his thoughts on things with the link provided to his released tapes. Fascinating indeed!

His legacy has outlasted the World Trade Center in which where built while he was in office.

  • There wasn't anything particularly new or imaginitive about the Nixon doctrine. Basically he looked at what Presidents going back a least to Jefferson had done, added the word "nuclear" to it, and slapped his name on it.

    oh....he did........good riddance.

Doesn't matter that he died, China is now our master, the drug war is in full swing and Presidential break-ins are now called the Patriot Act. My point is that what everyone that is up in arms about and dis-enfranchised with policy, started around 1969. It has been a continuance since then.

  • I always thought Nixon one one of the more honest presidents... he was pretty open about the need to play dirty pool to get anywhere in politics... Its the ones that pretend that it doesn't exist that are dishonest.

Nixon, was lauded as the most dis-honest Presidents, ever...
The war over Watergate never ends. The latest battle is over a decision by the Nixon Presidential Library to commemorate this week's 37th anniversary of the Watergate break-in by inviting an especially provocative speaker: John Dean, the former White House lawyer who pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice after testifying about his boss's role in the cover-up. The invitation from the library%u2014which is now run by the National Archives%u2014has outraged Nixon's dwindling loyalists, who have mounted a lobbying campaign to get the event canceled. "This is in poor taste," says Robert Odle, a former Nixon communications aide. "It's like having Monica Lewinsky speak at the Clinton library on the anniversary of President Clinton's impeachment."

My favorite line of my Grandfather regarding Nixon was, "He just got caught at what every President does", you better not mention anything negative about Nixon to my Grandfather. LOL!

  • Nixon opened trade relations with China, Its hard to predict how the cold war would have gone if china instead of being a trading frienemy they were instead a silent enemy,...world might be very different.
