Two carjacking scumbags being sought by police

ST. PETERSBURG --

St. Pete police detectives are searching for two men suspected in a carjacking that took place in the parking lot of a Best Buy in the Tyrone Square area.

The incident happened as a 64-year-old man left the store, located at 6600 22nd Avenue North, on January 15th around 6 p.m.

Police say the victim was preparing to enter his car in the parking lot when he was approached by a lone male suspect who wearing a black t-shirt and displaying a handgun.

Police say the suspect demanded the keys to the victim's 2007 Maroon Lexus ES330 sedan, which he provided.

Police say the suspect then instructed the victim to get into the passenger side of the car but the victim decided instead to flee back to the store for help.

A second suspect wearing a white tank top ran towards the car and got into the passenger side, police say. The car then left the lot heading east on 22nd Avenue North.

Police say surveillance video shows the suspects casing the parking lot prior to the robbery.

The robbery itself is not depicted, but the suspect wearing the white tank top can be seen running to the victim's car and getting in on the passenger side.

The victim's car has not yet been recovered.
