DHS Checkpoint Blog Entry 8: Posing for Posterity
On April 1, 2008, I was briefly stopped at the same internal suspicionless Homeland Security checkpoint I've been stopped & seized at many times before (note - I incorrectly indicated it was April 2nd in the video).
This checkpoint has been in continuous operation, day & night, since January 2008. It's located over 40 miles North of the border along SR86, near mile marker 146, in Southern Ari
More..zona.
While this particular checkpoint stop is relatively unremarkable as far as suspicionless seizures by armed federal agents go, I post it for its historical significance.
Agent Villa, the stopping agent, allows me to pass with minimum fuss. This isn't the case several weeks later when Agent Villa along with Agent Cruz stop and seize me again at the same checkpoint. Less..

Do you understand the definition of the word "seize?" They can stop you, but I am not sure how they "seized" you. haha, you're weird.

You must live in southern Arizona.
So you must know of the MASSIVE amount of illegal immigrants and drug traffickers that pass through southern Arizona.
You must work in Arizona so you HAD to have seen the MASSIVE number of illegal workers here in various businesses. You would have seen the change in the construction workforce these past 20 years and the wages barely move. Try being a contractor. The amount of illegal workers was absurd. Nor is there any draw from our youth for apprenticeship from these folks.
The rest hung out at any Home Depot or such by the dozens looking for cash work.
The Mayday strike/protest, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the economy has changed much of that in Maricopa County these past years.
Good job Sherrif Joe.
I went javelina hunting near Arivaca recently.
The desert is covered for miles with trash form these folks. This is 20 miles from the border and 15 miles from the freeway in the middle of nowhere.
Every night 5-6 pickup trucks loaded to the brim with people, front and back, would pass our camp with the lights out in pitch dark.
That stop was no different than a border patrol checkpoint which are all over that area.
These folks need to be out there and you should be THANKING them.
I think you are a bit obnoxious and antagonistic.

I like the video you did of the same check point with the lady asking questions. You were spot on in asking "Am I being detained?" I sent that vid to all my buddies as a tutorial on how to not give up your rights. Keep up the good work.
Voted.

Oh, the irony. Go post a video of a baby being spun and get back to us about freedom, OK?

Wow, what a trauma that was. Probably years of therapy in your future as a result.

BTW, don't you have manditory voting and what's the situation with your police and DUI checkpoints?
Still want to compare freedoms?

yes.voting is mandatory here.as it should be.if you do not vote.....$55 fine.i recently received a letter asking why i did not turn up to vote in the last local government elections.i had not missed one since i enrolled to vote.(when i was 22...rebelliousness and such)i expected to receive such a letter.my excuse was already a foregone conclusion...i had a terrible migraine on the day(i'm sure that the local community would not appreciate my vomitting all over the place)...so.i accounted for my view in another way.-that is i am feeling crook-don't **** with me now.and they listen.
bah-look it up....i'm not going to explain it all to you.
cheers anyway....

lol failing to vote gets you a $55 fine (something you support), we have the infamous babyswing-gate and you want to debate "freedom".
Cheers

one of my defining moments in life....politically speaking.
one evening around the dinner table..some political event was being discussed.i put forward my opinion.i was asked "have you enrolled to vote?"-that was when i was 20.i answered in the negative.
i was told"well then...your opinion doesn't count.how can you have an opinion if you refuse to vote for anyone whom claims to represent your opinion in parliament ?" i took that to heart and thought about it for a while.it made sense.i should be expected to take part in community events.elections.....whatever.i am a member of an ideal.i should participate.and my little say matters.
ffs...the night is old.sleep beckons me.i may follow through with this later.i had no intention to go all philosophical and such.
goodnight sir, follow through with that topic on other aussies.i'm sure they will enlighten you of our ways and offer up other tidbits of our lifestyle.
ciao.
