Not very nice to call the pilot a RETARD right when he is about to land!

@Mesmer heh those pilots always get inflated egos, you got to figure, it works perfectly... every time they feel like the man because they're about to land a huge plane, the plane takes a bit of a jab at their ego

The Airbus A380-800 is quite the impressive aircraft. Video is a bit long but I ejoyed watching it anyway. The pilots did a great job in landing that beast.

I was on a flight from Hawaii, and it was the pilots last flight, he was retiring. As part of the respect for the pilot goes, the water trucks meet us before we approach the terminal and they shoot the water over the plane. After the plane is unloaded it's passengers, all the passengers wait at the gate while two of the crew get off and get a wheelchair and take it onto the plane. They then bring the captain out in the wheelchair, as to say yah he's getting too old to fly. All the passengers an More..

The verb 'to retard' means the exact opposite of 'to advance'. If some not-so-smart teens only know that word from the context of being mentally underdeveloped that isn't really a concern to aerospace engineers.

Great video! Thanks!
Also, Lufthansa is a great airline compared to the U.S. airlines we are stuck with. They have a more modern fleet, good service, food, and the overall experience is 100 times better.

@nothinbutthetruth Yeah Lufthansa is good, also Emirates is a really good one too. Your right about US airlines, alll the times ive ever flown on US planes, they all sucked and seemed like they were from the 1970s....

@lordpure I flew from Germany to the States and American Airlines still had the damn 28" regular TV's in each cabin. One tv per about 100 passengers. I drink or drug myself anyways, but still, shows how outdated they are.

@nothinbutthetruth Oh I know I freaking hated that! I love planes that have your own LCD touchscreen in front of your seat with a wide array of different movies, music and games..

@lordpure well most people I know that flew Lufthansa to the states had just one regular screen for every 50 passengers. flying US Airways I had my own, but that's nothing compared to Emirates

Airbus is a manufacturer. A380-800 is the aircraft.
I think I'd much prefer Boeing. They use a factor of 2 when designing their aircraft whilst Airbus uses a factor of 1.6. Meaning if it takes this much wing to lift a given payload the manufacturers will multiply it by 1.6 or 2. Also Boeing has a more traditional flight control. Not some offset joystick.

@pontiaku What a load of crap. They are requered to have a factor of 1.5 minimum. Just weeks before the 787 (a Boeing if you can't remember) was to fly it didn't even get that. It was around 1.2, and now you really think they got it up to 2.0? Be real.

A 787 is rather new and my knowledge is circa 2002 or so. I doubt many designs had changed. Mind telling me what the factor was for other boeing aircraft used prior to 2009?

I got to be one of the first people in North America to board an A380 in Iqaluit Nunavut. It arrived there in 2006 for cold weather testing. As an employee for one of the airlines there we had the privilege to take a tour inside and out of this beauty. All the engineers were on thier equipment working away while we walked around snapping as many photos as possible. The cockpit was amazing. That tail looked like a shark fin when it circled the hills surrounding the airport. Truly impressive with More..
