I worked at a TV station in the early 90's and we had problems with this too. My car got hit in the hood, and made a dent you could eat soup out of! LOL! The stations normally take old tires and lay them down on the roof, with plywood covering them, to protect the station from damage. One time the Engineer came into the building white as a ghost, and said to get out, he has never seen the tower and guide wires sway like that before, so we shut it down, and left the area. @Onehunglow Ours was 325 foot...and got icy once..but it was situated quite a ways back from the studio..(radio)...the worst thing was having to replace the beacon light...not fun...lol

These people are lucky that one of those pieces of ice did not sever a couple of the guy wires or that entire tower could have come down. More than one have come down by something falling off the tower or by something dropped by a worker on the tower.
