  • And yes there were pilots from the USA helping us out before the Americans eventually joined the war. They formed 3 Eagle Squadrons just after the Battle of Britain. My girlfriend's grandfather was one of them - she's from San Diego.

So true -this is where some of the Yanks on here get us wrong -we really only belly-ache about their politicians not joining the war not about their many brave airmen and soldiers and navy. the American people were duped by the likes of Jos More..

a lot of Americans wear the poppy in gratitude, we remember and honor as well. My grandfather (an American) joined the RAF in '39."
Glad to hear it mate, yes there was an American in the Battle of Britain I believe, actually joined the Canadian airforce and then came with them to Britain (there was others though who volunteered from the States before USA officially joined the War in 1942)-I think it is a great symbol and should be adopted by all the allies at least -sorry ShahidJebz I forgot Canada does, but I was meaning the wider world lol.

  • When will the politicians learn? Why send our soldiers to their deaths in a war that we don't want or need to be fighting. Who will win? NOBODY! Afghanistan isn't worth another British life - or the other allies. If anyone says it is go out there and get yourself killed!!!

Anyone who thinks the Afghans are cowards has no clue what it is really like. How can they be cowards when they have no planes or tanks to fight with? The tribesmen are some of the bravest people you could ever meet. No doubt More..
