Boston Dynamics Pet Man
Biped robot the balances dynamically using a human-like walking motion. It is a close relative to BigDog, sharing elements of the mechanical design and control.
From the makers of BigDog:
PETMAN is an anthropomorphic robot for testing chemical protection clothing used by the US Army. Unlike previous suit testers, which had to be supported mechanically and had a limited repertoire of motion,
More..PETMAN will balance itself and move freely; walking, crawling and doing a variety of suit-stressing calisthenics during exposure to chemical warfare agents. PETMAN will also simulate human physiology within the protective suit by controlling temperature, humidity and sweating when necessary, all to provide realistic test conditions. Less..

Impressive, but this is not frontier achievement in that field. From the vids leaked out here, it seems that the Japanese are way beyond that tethered level in terms of robotics.

It would walk in circles around that Honda robot.

I am sure they said that about forklifts, cranes, coveyor belts and everything else.
Best get hot on learning to be a robot repairman, programmer or designer.
Either way it sure looks weird.

nice, now have it up-linked with a highly developed AI via satellite, suit it with some bad ass firearms and armor and BAM! no more human us and eu war casualties...but then we are setting our selves up for judgment day.

It's cutting edge in that it rights itself after being pushed. Try that with Asimo.

It's only tethered for power and safety concerns in preliminary testing phases.
