Facebook user,Wesley Muhammad, who uploaded photo said that soldier was in the IDF; Israelis came together to prove that the claim was false.

A viral photograph on Facebook showing a soldier pointing a weapon at a young girl managed to anger more than a few Israelis this past week.

The photo shows a helpless girl laying on the floor while a soldier, whose face is out of frame, has his boot pressed to her stomach, all the while pointing an AK-47 rifle to her face.




The photograph, which was uploaded by a Facebook user named Wesley Muhammad, included a caption which said that soldier in the photo was from the Israel Defense Forces, and the little girl was a Palestinian.

Israelis came together to refute the false claim, finding a number of attributes of the photo (such as details of the uniform) that proved the soldier was not in the IDF. Another irregularity is that the AK-47 is hardly ever used by the IDF. Also, a crowd is clearly seen surrounding the soldier and the girl, and had the photograph been of an IDF soldier, the crowd would likely have tried to attack him.

The photograph was taken down on Wednesday, although by the time any action was taken, it had already become an internet sensation.
