To avoid insurance frauds/issues and because of the corrupt cops.In other words required by yourself.More and more cams gonna be installed in vehicles around the world in near future...just mark my words.I worked at some cruise ships back in the days and after some rape/theft/fight issues many shipping companies had cams installed pretty much everywhere and even voice recorders in most holy places.Imagine to get your hands on those recordings!! I spent some time talking shit and drin More..

@Markstars No. Russians just realized how useful these things are. I have one as well and I'm planing to install a rear facing one also. I haven't been in a crash myself yet but I just can't imagine driving without one. Besides, they're seriously cheap, with free shipping from Hong-Kong online stores. Go to DealExtreme.com and search for item number "SKU 35356". I paid $118 US two years ago and it's only $56 US now.

I'd be pretty surprised if the driver in the car that was t-boned survived. That was a massive hit on an older car that would not have the side impact safety and security that a newer car has.
