September 23, 2012-Camp Bastion/Leatherneck, Afghanistan: First
Lieutenant Rachel Opperman, age 24, from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania is
responsible for the sort lot where Marines dump off equipment that needs
to be sorted, packaged and cleaned before being sent out of Afghanistan
at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan on Sunday September 23, 2012. The
Marines estimate that about 100,000 shipping containers of equipment and
45,000 to 50,000 vehicles will have to be redistributed to Marine bases
in the United States and Japan where units will welcome the equipment
to restock their rolls to reinforce their deployment preparedness after
12 years of war. Major Raymond Bradshaw, age 47, from Miami, Florida
explains how the packaged and cleaned equipment is sent out bit by bit
on every flight that departs the base.
