The fact that it was barking could make the soldier's presence known more easily to insurgents. I am in no way prasing their actions or even saying what they did was right or wrong. Honestly I don't care, it's a dog in Iraq and now it's dead. It's done over just leave it the **** alone.
If the damn dog was drawing attention to our troops and/or their position,... it gets SHOT! Doesn't anyone understand how terrible WAR is???? Get a life.
...karma is a *****...with that said I think we are seeing the making of the next 'Victim' in the war on terror.
If you can hurt a innocent dog like that...then you do not deserve to breath the same air as that dog...I don't wish death on people as a matter of cause but in your case I will make a exception...you sir are less than the dirt you walk (and kill) on!
Quoted comment by Pinero: Obviously the dog was injured, they should've ended it's misery with a regular bullet. They didn't need to torture it (you can hear him yelping even more aftewards) by shooting a smoke grenade.
the trouble with this is- how do we know what happened next? Or before? Did someone laugh? Did the soldier end it for the injured pup? Who was going to be responsible for the obviously terrified animal? Too many variables. We only have the context of seeing the guy shoot the mutt. At first I was shocked, but some comments gave me pause, that and the literal fact of the editing of the piece. Was it meant toi incite grievance? Was the soldier remorsefull? How will we ever know?
This was just plain wrong. Not cool no matter how someone may make excuses. Did anyone view the vid of the soldier calling home and talking to his dog over the phone? That vid was sweet and meaningful and then I watched this crap.
