In the process, he embarrassed powerful governments." -- Nobel Laureate Mairead Maguire"As a mother, of course I wish he had never done it -- because now he is being politically persecuted, risks being tortured -- but as a citizen what he and WikiLeaks have done is the best of investigative journalism bringing mainstream media approved by governments and big corporations to task. This is what journalists were originally supposed to do... they are there to help hold governments accountable. If the justic

"The nature of international relations means some things ought to stay secret""

I agree but not the illegal things or things that compromises our freedom, liberty and integrity. After all, our governments are acting on our behalf aren't they?

There is a good reason why the Act is an important piece of legislation and I believe that if our media was doing its job properly we wouldn't even care about wikileaks or Assange...

Nobody's advocating divulging military secrets Zardoz, illegal acts are fair play though.

The irony is that the US government has blurred that line between the two hence all this saga with Wikileaks.

Our governments act on our behalf. We need to know what they're up to and not just in the financial sectors.

If the MSM were doing their jobs in keeping our elected officials honest, Wikileaks would have been a failed project I believe.

  • Any creditability this shit (Assange) had was blown when he edited a video to create a false accusation of a crime. Manning did not steal evidence of wrong doing. He stole diplomatic and military secrets that compromised diplomatic relations and put soldiers and informants lives at risk. The truly sad part is Assange hung Mannings ass out to dry. While he played false hero wannabe.

" He stole diplomatic and military secrets that compromised diplomatic relations and put soldiers and informants lives at risk."

Do you have any proof of that?

Name one country with whom diplomatic relations have been compromised because of Wikileaks or Manning.

Name one informant or one soldier who's life was in danger because of Wikileaks or Manning.

Assange provided the platform, Manning used it. Nobody's hanging nobody's ass out to dry.

Do you have any evidence or any reliable link please?
No disrespect, I just can't take your word (nor the media's word) for it.
      Cheers

One last thing: If there has been an iota of malfeasance created by Wikileaks, we'd be hearing about it for months no end.
      They have nothing.

Well, it's a good thing that arabs found out through Wikileaks that their governments are a bunch of corrupt criminals and lying thieves isn't it?
That has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the USA wants Assange head.

You're sure that iraqi, pakistani and afgani informents meet a sad end.
      How so?
Give me ONE name and a proof that he/she are dead because of Wikileaks.

      Good point.
I think some crooked governments might have tried to feed Wikileaks with wrong information just so that it gets discredited, but I'm not familiar with how leaked files are checked for accuracy... The only pointer is the rage and hissy fits that concerned governments display in public as well as the lengths they go to, in cohort with the media, to discredit the leaker or the platform...

  • Assange is a whining traitor who will soon be in prison where he belongs. Or hopefully eliminated by an unconfirmed agency

  • Incredibly flawed poll. You should try again without the loaded questions.

How about a choice that says "Manning took an oath to protect classified information and then chose to simply ignore it, and should suffer the consequences of that action."

Do your own poll wise guy and while you're at it why don't you upload something to share with everyone.
      Cheers

ps: I tell you what's incredible though; is that you've opened your mouth without knowing anything about The Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989.
I bet you didn't even know that Auschwitz was Classified Information too, do you?
