MEXICAN FEDERAL POLICE ARRESTED TODAY AN IMPORTANT DRUG CARTEL LEADER IN TAMAULIPAS, MEXICO.

APRIL/29/09---Federal Police officers arrested in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Gregorio Sauceda Gamboa aka "El Caramuela" or "El Goyo" or "Metro 2, located second on the chain of the command on the structure of the Gulf Cartel and key player in the foundation of the criminal organization.

Aka "El Caramuela, former judicial police on the list of the most wanted by the United States anti-drug agency D More..EA, was captured along with two others, Gabriela Del Toro Copto, who is allegedly his wife, and Miguel Angel Reyes Grajales "El Güero," also member of the organization.

They were presented on Wednesday afternoon at the Command Center of the Federal Police in Iztapalapa, Mexico.

General Javier del Real Magallanes, deputy secretary of Strategy and Police Intelligence, reported that the arrest was the result of intelligence work by the Federal Police, which resulted in locating a home in the avenue and street ejido 6 / a. 3 / a. Cologne Tlaxcala in Matamoros.

In the operation they seized five assault rifles, an antitank rocket launcher M72A3, 30 magazines, 4 thousand 575 cartridges of various calibers and one vehicle.

The secretary emphasized that intelligence reports indicate that from 1996 to 2004, Gregorio Sauceda, alias "El Goyo," was essential to the formation of the Gulf Cartel, headed by Osiel Cárdenas Guillén.

Even after the arrest of Cardenas, Sauceda was temporaly in command of the organization, where he was later relieved by Jaime González Durán, aka "El Hummer", he was arrested by federal police on November 7, 2008 in Reynosa, Tamaulipas .

Upon his arrival in this organization, Cárdenas Guillén named him as an operator in Reynosa and Matamoros, seat coveted by opposing groups such as the Pacific Cartel, the subsecretary said.

Gregorio Sauceda Gamboa is charged with the crimes of organized crime and violation of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives. Moreover, in he is seventh on the list of "Los Zetas" most wanted by the DEA.
