  • I cannot wait until the Perceids meteor shower comes around again. Every August I head out to the country to enjoy the wonderful show of bright dazzling meteors in the night sky. Damn these videos got me pumped for it again!

    • @TouchFreedom I've been lucky enough to see 2 of these with my own eyes. They weren't this big or bright, and they didn't flash and light up the ground, but they were significant.

And, they were like a month apart, and I was just out walking both times. So random.

One was green, and one was orange. They were big enough that I watched them for maybe 3-4 seconds each, and they both broke up as they burned in. I watched them crumble.

The green one was copper apparently. Don't remember what metal More..

    • @ST0N3PONY Cool! A few Decembers back I witnessed two green meteors almost back to back. That type of meteor is not often seeing as the others are. Nice!

    • @TouchFreedom I've always got my eyes on the sky ever since. Most people never see a meteor like that, big enough to watch it crumble and fall apart as it comes in. I saw those two probably a month apart. I'll probably never see one again. It was just amazing luck.

    • @ST0N3PONY appears to me you enjoy this stuff as much as I. Like I said, if you can, get away from light pollution and take in the Perceids shower when it peaks around August 11, 12 and 13! It is awesome bud and we who live in North America get the best show. Cheers!

    • @TouchFreedom True. Light pollution is a pain in the ass for anybody who knows better. But, it's like people who live in the southern half of America and go their whole lives without ever seeing snow. All these people in and around cities go their whole lives without ever seeing stars, and they don't know it. They see the few brightest, and maybe recognize the big dipper, and think they've seen stars...

It's what I enjoy most about road trips through the desert. I generally stop and find a plac More..

  • I've seen a few nice ones in my day.
The best one I saw was while my buddies and I were hangin out having a few beers around midnight and one that was similar to the first video went flying overhead. It broke up into several pieces and lit up the night sky like the sun. All of the cars on the road stopped and started honking... and then our coversation turned to aliens, creation and such... it was awesome.
Another time I was with a lady friend on the beach getting all romantic, and suddenly the More..

  • I saw a bright flash in our skies last week and after watching this I realized it must have been associated with the space dust from Haleys Comet.
This is good stuff. Nice change from car wrecks, drunks, suicide bombers etc..
