A couple of things here.
This guy has definitely lost his ability to control his thoughts. Hallucinogens have a way of mimicking chemicals that stimulate neurotransmitters. This will cause HUGE imbalances in brain chemistry (imagine programs inside a huge piece of software automatically running when they aren't supposed to...like defrag taking off when you're trying to reformat your drive). When you combine huge amounts of endorphins with adrenaline and mix those with a cocktail of other "fight or flight" chemicals in your brain, you get what happened to this guy. That's the uncertainty of drugs (even natural ones like mushrooms). You can never tell how your body is going to respond. You could have the most awesome experience or you could end up a nut case for 12 hours (possibly longer depending on what you took and how much you took).
Another thing I'm going to add. There are some very funny things happening here. I'm just glad this guy was around people who could deal with the situation. However, some of them don't understand that when you are freaking out like this, it's probably best NOT to say things like "remember your mom is all worried about you".
Let the quotes fly!
