Today a group of scientists got convicted of manslaughter for failing to predict earthquakes, 6 years in jail. Now the earthquake victims are able to sue the scientists!. WTF Galileos ghost has risen. Why don't they sue the pope or God for this earthquake?

  • The way this is being played in the foreign media, it makes it look like an attack on science. From reading up on some of the details of the case, it sounds a lot more like negligence leading to deaths.

      I had an Italian friend explain the case to me. It's precisely as you describe. Shows you the difference between sensationalist media headlines and reality.

      Actually my friend tells me that there are questions whether the scientists were hired purposely to give those assurances. Turns out that the government officials that had them hired were looking to increase real estate investments or something like that. But that's just speculation, not proven.
