The Most Powerful Air Rifle - Sam Yang "Dragon Claw" PCP (Pre-charged Pneumatic) .50 Caliber!

At over 12 minutes long a rather long video but a good overview of this very powerful air rifle and PCP air weapons in general. Made in South Korea and costs slightly under $700 US...Pre-charged pneumatic air rifles are gaining popularity in the US. They are relatively quiet, very powerful and in the US there are NO restrictions on purchase and no limit on the velocity or foot pounds of the projectile.

PCP guns (pistols are also sold) typically operate with compressed air at around 3000 PSI or more. They have an air reservoir that allows multiple shots with one charge. The air reservoir can be recharged with a scuba tank, a special foot pump or a standard air compressor plus a "shoebox" pressure booster that you can buy online.

  • Whats the fps?

I bought a 1200 fps model for about $130....real wood, pro scope, very accurate....noticed when i shoot it into a dark area into my woods, i can see the pellet going straight real fast for several hundred feet, then it randomly takes a really wild swirl...i believe another poster has it right when he said the accuracy is off due to no rifling in the barrel to induce a spin....the one surprise i found...1200 fps is above the sound barrier, so the pellet has a sonic boom that re More..

    • @N4CR dang..my walmart model is twice that speed...you can see it at walmart.com. Little known fact..you can buy stuff from their web page for lots less than in store, and they either deliver to you or store free.. You can see bith models. The subsonic silient one with an opening in the stock, and my 1200 fps supersonic model. About same price. Excellent wood craftsmanship, same for machined steel parts and esp the scope....both have lots of 5 star reviews...i am very pleased with mine. More More..

    • @cougar58 you can get surppresors or even make one but they are still illegal - anything that "could be" fitted to a firearm is still illegal. You can get a Gamo "Whisper" model or other specially made for quiet rifles, and it will be MUCH quieter.

    • @cougar58 what do you mean, gamo whisper?

  • I'd buy one if they weren't such a pain in the ass to reload with air. I'll stick to traditional firearms for now.

    • @lucidx1 Could always get a compressor and fill your own air tank. Also if you want to mess with things you could use some other gas. CO2 packs more of a punch when expanding for some reason.

I know that but I just like the idea of how compact a traditional firearm is, there are less pieces that can break. All you need is ammo and whatnot. A few minute break between every few shots with a PCP gun just seems to impractical.

Could go for smaller calibres, they last far longer between refills. A few bird/pest control vids posted here have some mean ones.

You guys are like car salesmen lol.
I mean, I'd play with one but I wouldn't buy one.

LOL! Once you try PCP you're hooked forever :P

Just hear a lot of people that are the same boat as you, that try a real PCP rifle and fall in love with them.

  • Damn, 3,000 psi.
Makes my 100psi spud cannon not sound as good.
But its still fun as hell!

  • Got a 1,100 foot per second model.
I use heavy pellets so it does not quite shoot that fast and so does not break the sound barrier.
Fun as hell and shoots dead ass straight. I can shoot it in the city limits without police comming around.

  • At that price I wonder how accurate it is at longer distance? 540fps? That's a bit of drop! Must be expensive to feed. Are they for large game or what? Can't see what the market for these is.

Heard most pro pest control guys go .25 pcp for smaller stuff and if accurately used can even drop a pig.

Ya, the ones you can buy at Walmart are 700+ psi. If I recall right, they hav one for 100 that is 900 psi....so this really isn't that impressive to me

    • @Bthor420
Yup,,,your ballistic ignorance would lead you to believe your 700 fps wal-mart special could drive a 300+gr projectile.

could your wal mart special shoot through a hog?

  • Thanks for showing, pretty amazing air rifle. Dialed in I am sure it would be an effective alternative for hunting small game. Saw a video of a hunter using for wild Boar. Considerig on getting something like this, here in Hawaii, feral Pigs everywhere, and of course people hunting them here on island(s) do eat them.
