  • How did we fool the Soviets? They had their own space program, they'd know forgery in an instant and would've called America out on it.

Whenever I ask this question the conspiracy theorists shut their fucking mouths.

  • This stuff should be common knowledge by now. It really makes me angry when people try to deny that we have ever been on the moon, especially so soon after the death of Neil Armstrong.

    • @Bleys It actually was very thick tin foil ;)
The reason it's moving is from the resonance and force applied from them holding it and moving around, go pick up a sheet of thick baking tin foil by its side in a room with no wind and see what happens.

The problem is, Kaku is making a straw man argument in regards to this truther claim.

The claim isn't that the flag LOOKS like it's waving, in a still photo, nor is the claim that the flag waves as it is planted.

The truther argument hinges on the following video, which shows a flag AT REST, which then flutters as an astronaut passes by.

This cannot be explained by a breeze from his body, since there is a vacuum on the moon.

Starting around 2:30 an astronaut passes the motionless More..

It's very simple how it could have happened, Tinfoil is a material very influenced by resonance, if you hold a sheet of tinfoil up, it may stay in that position, but with changes in background heat, slight vibrations and just general settling from the effects of gravity, it will move. If you recreate that flag I can guarantee you you will find it behaves the exact same way in a windless room or vacuum depending on how far you want to go with it. It is shown fluttering in the v More..
