  • I can attest to the fact that the US Army spends a fair amount of time being busy at night, especially during the winter. Cold. Night. Good times.

    Possible Ranger Slogans
"This place sucks, let's spend the night."
"This place doesn't suck enough, let's move out."

    • @CatEatDog Yes, especially for Rangers, night training is so fundamental that they may spend weeks mostly sleeping when the sun is high...
And night training is really different from day training in so many ways, that nations that don't have it don't have a chance against nations that do have it.

    • @zAbArAkAtrAnEmIA_TheGreat Sleeping?

      You said sleeping.

When I was in the army, they did not issue sleep to us. To be honest, I don't remember any sleep from when I was in the army.

When the sun was high, we were doing stuff. When it was dark, we were doing stuff. I really don't remember sleep coming into it.

    • @CatEatDog Sorry mate, you are right... so to clarify: i meant Ranger's sleep - one eye always open, walking towards the objective, and with both hands working in equipment maintenance!

    • @zAbArAkAtrAnEmIA_TheGreat Nice!

I need to be careful, to make sure I am not trying to make out like I am some hard core army veteran. I definitely was not a Ranger! I knew a lot who were. I never saw combat, never been shot at.

I was in combat engineers. The no-sleep zone came when we were on maneuvers ("in the field"). One of my favorite expressions is, "It ain't camping."

    • @zAbArAkAtrAnEmIA_TheGreat Our conversation got me typing a story about sleep in the army...

I served with mixed distinction. As a matter of fact, one of the areas where I failed to reflect the greatest credit to the United States Army was sleeping during the ... geez, I cannot remember the term we used for reviewing training exercises. I am thinking it was "After Action Review".

Anyway, it was at Fort Irwin, in the Mohave Desert of California, June, hot, but the dry air made the More..

Yes... Rangers are out there... somewhere... preparing the way for others... without even a formal order...
While Greek green beret training is mostly based to British commando tradition (but using mostly USA manuals!), from my (very little) experience of both USA and British troops i have equal respect for both.

    • @1xx So these guys who train to kill people-someone's father, brother, etc-are better than the likes of the NASA scientists that are coming up with innovations that EVERYONE takes for granted? Hmmm, something is very wrong here.

Well that's one narrow minded way to look at it. And I disagree, these soldiers are trained to protect "people-someone's father, brother, etc" by taking the fight to the enemy's country and doing their best to keep it off our shores. The last time I checked, they have been doing an extraordinary job protecting this Beautiful Country. So yes they absolutely do deserve the praise "America's Finest" for protecting the way of life I enjoy every day.

      NASA is a More..

    • @shadow_moses_05 I don't think that including those Rangers in America's finest excludes the NASA scientists - each in his own field (and don't think that there can be NASA scientists without Rangers or other soldiers... not in the world we live unfortunately, not with so many people/countries that hate the progress and the scientific reasoning the USA represents)

    With all due respect..
Yea no, I don't sleep better at night knowing they are hunting down some 3rd world Islamic brawlers in a sand cave 3000 miles away. I would sleep a lot better if we didn't have a 16trillion and rising debt ceiling.

The Oath they take is to protect us from enemy Foreign AND Domestic. It's the Domestic Enemies in Washington I worry far more about.

I see your point but it's not that simple. When there is war, the Federal Reserve opens up the flood gates with an influx of imaginary cash to stimulate the economy and prime the war machine. These terrorists in Washington you speak of are just talking heads with no real power. I worry about the mass expanses of the population when everyone says 'enough is enough'. The government should worry there's roughly a 6 to 1 firearms ratio per person in America but then they'll just stop pr More..

No, actually you know what frightens ME mediaeinstein, It's when we have militarized Department Of Homeland Security and Now the Social Security that have ordered Half a BILLION hollow points rounds- which are not even allowed in our Military! So would you like to explain why we should just write that off and not be "concerned"?

Our kids, our good men/women are out fighting bad guys in caves 7,000 miles away while we have GOVERNMENT created Goon squads HERE in the US More..

    • @-Crusader-
What does DHS need a billion rounds of hollow points for? FMJ ammo is far cheaper. Hollow points are not for target practice, but even if they where every agent firing 7 rounds a second 24/7 it would take 8 years to use up that much ammo. So yea,, it does concern me when our goverment creates a militarized entity out of thin air made to police the population and then arms them with billions of hollow point bullets.. yea call me paranoid when I see the TSA groping little kids in the More..

  • First of all, lady in pink would get inseminated.

Second of all, why do Americans talk in such simplistic binary language like bad guys and good guys when talking about actual real life conflict?

It's just plain fuckwittery, real life is not like the movies, I've never heard any military establishment talk like that, it's childlike and plain dumb.

Nevertheless an interesting video, the Rangers are clearly an elite force.
