Man Drunk, High While Driving With Son

BENSALEM,Pennsylvania. A Philadelphia father was drunk and high while he was driving with his two-year-old son in the car, police said.

According to Bensalem police, Daniel Lopez, 23, of the 1100 block of Tabor Street, was taken into police custody Thursday after a patrol car observed his car stopped in the middle of Route 1 in Bucks County, partially on the concrete median.

When officers approached the vehicle, they noticed the two-year-old in a car seat and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. When the arresting officer attempted to speak to Lopez, it became clear that he was incoherent and could barely speak.

An investigation revealed the Lopez had been smoking marijuana laced with PCP while he was driving the vehicle.

Lopez was charged with endangering a child, recklessly endangering another person, drunk driving and other related offenses. The child was not injured and released to her mother's custody.

Lopez was being held at the Bucks County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.
