  • i live in a small town in oregon...we don't have many beggars..there are a few here and there...one woman, i knew her story and it made me sick that she was actually dishonest enough to lie about her life and beg for money...the people who don't beg are usually the ones who need help the most...

  • Here in Madrid you see romanian beggars, mostly gypsies, do that every day. They arrive to a corner with a backpack and a walking stick, they put on a dirty greasy coat and a cap that makes them look like WWII refugees, and start begging till it's time to eat. I have seen the same dudes with portable computers and smoking Marlboros in a park at the end of a hard day's "work".

    And, of course, they get all the social benefits from my town's municipality.

  • there are practically thousands of them across one mature city. I cared the first 2 days i was there, felt real bad and shit honestly but after a few days they start to become annoying as hell sinds there commonly used by organized crime to rake in some change (x1000)

  • Similar happened 3 - 4 years ago and was on LL. I cannot find it now though.

    There was that guy in Brooklyn that did a trick like this.

    He'd park his car a few blocks away, put on his theatrical clothes of being homeless, then walk to his place of work for the day.

    When arrested and charged he was carrying over $300. One days takings and when they went to his home it was well equipped, luxurious and he had a wife and family - addationally supported off welfare payments.
