Unemployment in March was 20 percent higher in so-called "blue states" won by Democratic candidate Barack Obama in last fall's presidential election than in "red states" won by Republican candidate John McCain, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

If unemployment numbers in the blue states do not begin improving soon, the Democratic Party may start expressing concerns about 2010 mid-term election losses in both governor races and in Congress, many political observers say.

The baseball statistician and political predictor at FiveThirtyEight.com already has forecast that Obama will need to sustain a 65-percent approval rating to avoid losing the House of Representatives in the 2010 elections in which voters traditionally weigh economic issues par

  • the current crop of dems look like a bunch of idiots. They are going to have to start pulling some miracles or the public will swing right again just to balance things. More than half the people in office in this country including most senators and congress need to be voted out, especially in California.

  • even though those numbers add up like that, something just seems wrong.
statistics have an odd way about themselves.
for example: If you have 2 feet, you have more than the average person. Because, no one has 3 feet and some have only one or sadly none.
So if you have 2, you're above the average.

  • by the way your biased sight you linked as a reference doesnt know math. it claims the blue states are 20 % higher in unemplyment, first off its one percent higher, and if hes talking about the sum of one compared to the other the difference is somewhere nearer 12%. I mean even with a slight victory in fudged numbers they still have to fcuking lie.

  • The current prez is not responsible for businesses going bankrupt today. Eight years of denial and "don't rock the boat" mentality is what did it, and Mr. Bush deserves most, if not all, the credit.
