  • Visualize the finish line at a farther point and you won't have this problem. I learned that in Cross Country running in high school.

    • @FutboleroR10 That's smart. I wonder if it helps some of those extreme distance runners? The tiny little skinny guys who are collapsing across the line on rubber legs or crawling to the line because they don't have the strength to stand up.

      I knew a runner who ran against Steve Prefontaine at Portland. He crossed the finish line just behind Steve, except Steve had already lapped him and he had to keep running. That's got to suck for a runner.
