    • The "lazy Mexican" stereotype was funny, up until recent decades when illegals started taking all the general labor jobs around here. Not such a side-splitter anymore.

  • Top Gear makes fun of everyone. They liked being offensive. It's part of what makes the show edgy and fun to watch. It's also pretty much one of the only shows that can do it and survive the barrage of complaints due to high ratings. Did I say barrage? Out of several million viewers world wide ... only about 100 complained.

Jokes are jokes. There was a time when folks could laugh and not be shouted at for it.

  • The Mexican Ambassador has complained to the BBC about comments on Top Gear. Richard Hammond is accused of calling Mexicans lazy. Mr Eduardo Medina Mora, 54, said that he saw the show live on Sunday and rang to complain as soon as he woke up on Tuesday afternoon.

  • Before anyone on here has a whine about this and Mexicans start damning England. This shows survives because of controversy!
They need to keep their ratings up because the show costs so much, so they make sure they stay in the papers by appearing to be on some sort of anti-PC crusade. They probably would have said the same thing about any nationality if it would generate significant buzz and outrage from liberal journalists. It was funny as hell.

  • What??? Most parts in American cars are made in Mexico and Canada then assembled in the U.S. I would have thought these guys knew this. An it's really easy to check. Just open your driver side door an on the inside of the door you will see the cars origin of manufacture tag that has the basic serial numbers and where the car was put together. I've seen some tags where it post the percentages of the car parts origins.

  • It's kinda sad in a way. The Mexicans around here work their asses off, then send the excess money over the border. I don't care about political correctness the jokes were still funny it's just strange how some stereotypes linger. I'm full gringo BTW, I just have to stand up for my lawn boy. :)
