  • If corporations are people , when corporations are guilty of killing other corporations , they should be executed.
Yeah, it doesn't make any sense, thats why this " corporations are people " is complete bullshit .

  • Nothing new here. More money = more votes. If you do not like it then quit giving your dollars (votes) to corporations (representatives). It kind of sounds like you think you live in a democracy or something.

  • In Canadian federal elections, no person, union or company can contribute more $1100 to a politician in an election. Some do cheat to get around these rules but the aggressive "SuperPac" destruction of democracy you see in America is not apparent in Canada - YET!

  • The whole POINT of a corporation is that it is an entity under the law, more or less on a par with an individual.

The word "corporation" derives from the latin corpus, body.

No doubt you'll blame Obama's defeat on the "destruction of democracy."

I'll not ask you to use your mind to work it out rationally. That's your own task should you care to undertake it.

Meanwhile you can just stay north of the border, can't you?

  • Corporations are voluntary associations of people. Just because people associate voluntarily doesn't mean that they lose their rights as people.
And yes, people who voluntarily associate in corporations can get drafted (an involuntary association), get married, and have kids. Collectivists (who advocate involuntary associations) will probably not understand what I write.

  • Corporations cannot donate to campaigns. They may, however, donate to political action committees. Corporations using their money as they see fit is free enterprise. Political action committees advertising as they see fit is free speech.

Corporate personhood is not some evil scheme to generate a plutocracy. It is an old principle meaning that the risk I take by investing money is limited to the investment itself. Without corporate personhood, I could lose my house and car if I invest even a sma More..

Citizens United says yes, corporations can donate directly to campaigns.

The Washington Post story is incorrect. Citizens United does not allow corporations or unions to contribute directly to political campaigns. It does allow them to donate to political action committees and directly finance election communications as long as they fully report their funding activities.
