The funny thing is that the Legion get their good Reputation after WW2 when thousands of german ex SS Soldiers fle into the Legion. That time the only way to hide from the Nürnberg trials. And they welcomed them because they know that they get the Best trained Soldiers.... Ok they suck at Indochina but that was because of a bad Doctrin...

The only French military outfit that is not allowed by French law to be barracked in France. Old fears of them over throwing the government, since their members are still comprised of mainly foreigners.
Very tough outfit. Death is preferred over surrender, which contrasts with the regular French army, where the stigma of quick surrender still dogs them.
