Witnesses report up to 10 people getting shot, 3 dead one of which is the gunman.
Happened Today Around 9am, unfortunately i was 15min late to work and missed the whole thing.

New York is one of the strictest states in the nation with regards to the purchase, possession and carrying of handguns.

Make no mistake, our government could unilaterally impose a nationwide gun ban tomorrow. All the laws and Executive Orders are on the books and ready to go. The president could declare a state of emergency and impose martial law, and the Constitution would go right out the window. Work place dispute, the shooter was ladies hand bag designer who got the sack yesterday so he goes back and shoots the boss in the head?????? When you yank's going to get real and realise it is Guns that kill. Fully agree mate. Just se it from a British point of view where our gun laws are very strict, also I work for the Police so can quote how small gun crime is per capita compared to the US.

Pretty sure our gun laws are similar to yours, except our cops always have a sidearm, and shotguns in the trunk/boot.
If you get caught with an unregistered/prohibited weapon here, you are looking at jail time.
I like it that way.

LOL, if you're going to bring up logic, then you should probably realize that correlation =/= causation.
Having access to guns isn't the reason a few individual actors go around killing people. You're actually pulling responsibility away from the person who commits the crime and putting it instead on the tool he uses.

@Despott Well, no. In a city as crowded as New York, armed bystanders acting in self-defense would have simply created a deadly crossfire.
Y'know, civilians can buy TASERs. They cost about as much as a Glock. Only one shot, but no chance of over-penetrating the target or an obstacle in the environment and killing someone. Very effective in the right hands.
Unfortunately, NY is one of the five states that ban their use by civilians.

Correct, can't you read?
US = 89 guns per 100 people.
Mexico = 15 guns per 100 people.
US Murder Rate = 5.5 per 100K.
Mexico Murder Rate = 24 per 100K.
We have 6x as many guns, they have over 4x as many murders.
Honduras = 6.2 guns per 100 people, 82.1 murders per 100K.
Even fewer guns there, WAY more murders.
Serbia... they have a lot of guns, almost as much as the US. 58.2 guns per 100 folks. Lots of guns. According to your logic... lots of death, right? Wrong. 1.2 murders per 10 More..

Actually it's how law enforcment statistics work.
Every state with less control of private citizens the crime rate goes down, the states with the toughest gun restrictions have the highests murder rates.
