@Hazel_Nut - Prior to 9/11 Bush had been on the job for less than 8 months. During that time the most pressing foreign policy issue he had to deal with was the Chinese, you remember them, the ones with nukes, forcing one of our spy planes down. Probably wasn't big news in the Netherlands at the time.
Terrorism pre 9/11 was looked upon as a criminal nuisance by everyone including his predecessor. How many terrorist plots did we have information on that never came to fruition?

I have been in Mexico for the last 2 weeks - and only TV News was CNN international. According to them O has a comfortable lead - and Mitt has so many problems with is campaign. No mention of "F an F", Eric Holders contempt charge or O's use of executive privilege to cover it up. It is no wonder the people outside the US think the way they do - the US's own media is against it.

I think Obama is thinking what is more important? Re-election or personal freedom? He is set up for life even if he only gets one term, so he can go ahead and retire out in Hawaii and live the good life.
