The brake pad was already down from beginning, you can see the trace from the rivets on the disc. Very intersting, though.
BTW: Was that the old lada from the clip with the boys, the ramp and the flipping car?

Metal on metal, the pads were way worn out.
Cool to see it.

Initially I thought exactly the same, but then I realised that this was a visual proof of a disk breaking apart following abuse. Did you know that disks could miserably fail like that before having knowledge of this experiment? Well, for once I didn't at all either...

@Valerie2007 Actually I have seen them do that. I've also seen them shatter, warp, and one that had melted. Standard car brakes are not made to handle that much stress. If your hard on the brakes you need to invest in higher end racing or performance brakes that are made for extensive abuse. yes it's going to cost but they damn well worth it.

@Skinnydaddy
I melted out a gearbox once, it ran out of oil while I was driving a long distance on a motorway, and I only noticed that something was wrong when the engine temperature started to go red -by that time glowing drops of molten metal were pouring out from the gearbox.
You don't need to be a professional racer to experience phenomenal failures, the thing is that ordinary vehicles are absolutely not meant to make you experience that at all -but they occasionally do it, unfortunately.

@davidstringer this video, and others like it will serve as a historical record of how mankind wasted fossil fuels.

That was a shitty brake rotor. I've seen people doing the same thing in other videos and the rotor lasts until the entire thing is glowing bright red.

That's a composit rotor. The ring and hub metal are different materials. The vibration from not having a lug nut holding the rotor on probably caused too much vibration. They can separate like this even on a brake lathe.
