  • It is worse than that. Liberals allow mandate French only in Quebec while the rest of Canada has to bear the cost and aggravation of the whole multi-culti load of crap. The federal Liberal party has been run for many years by politicians from Quebec. We have had more Prime Ministers from Quebec than anywhere else in the last 45 years or so. We now have a Conservative PM from the west and you should hear the whining from the left.

  • I agree with many things he say's. But the comment that virtually everyone in Canada speaks English & French is nowhere close to the truth. Canada wide I'd say less than 20% of the population speak both languages.
    In Quebec, about 41%.

    • @Ruffus

I wonder how he got that wrong. A short visit to other parts of Canada would have made that clear.

I'm surprised that he came to that deduction in Toronto. I did a quick search on bilingual Canadians & my numbers roughly reflect what I found.

  • Go visit Brussels and see how things are done by EU bureaucrats in terms of languages. You will think Canada's got a bargain.

  • Where does it end? Certainly 2 languages doesn't cover the broad spectrum of people and languages that cover the globe. There's so many out there that to cover them all is totally unrealistic and a hassle to all involved, even the people it's aimed to help.

If you come to a country where the dominant speaking language is language A, then you should, as someone attempting to live there, learn language A. If you come to the country knowing language B, that's great! But you shouldn't expect the pe More..

  • this guy is lame
Multiculturalism enhances our national identity and bi-lingulism (french and english) have enriched our national heritage and culture.
Canada is a nation of peace and patience, we enjoy the differences we share.
Yes its a little annoying that both languages must be shown but i dont have to read both. While i do understand more french than the average US resident im not fluent in it, however it has given me the understanding that the world does not revolve around only English.
    EH More..
