attempting the "money grab" where you try to get the ribbon from between the bulls horns. Sounds easy enough - good luck with that then
Deland, Fla. —
Officials say two people have been injured by a bull at a central Florida rodeo.
Volusia County Fire Rescue officials say a man and a woman were injured in a "Grab the Tag" event during Saturday's annual Cracker Day festivities at the county fairgrounds in DeLand. Participants in the contest try to retrieve a tag from a bull's ear to win money.
Officials say the bull turned on Desiree Cicero, ran after her and struck her in the arm. According to fire rescue officials, a 19-year-old male spectator rushing to the woman's aid was kicked by the same bull. Nearly three dozen people participated in the contest.
While trying to grab a ribbon from between the bull's horns, Ms Cicero was taken down by the crazed creature. But content with one assault, the bull circled back and attacked her once more.
'I knew it was coming. I mean it felt like being hit by a bull. There is no other way to describe it.'
Suffering a dislocated shoulder, broken rib, hole in her arm and scratches all over, Ms Cicero is thankful to be alive.
She also knows she owes a huge debt of thanks to the heroic 19-year-old marine who rushed to her aide after she was taken down the first time.
