Ice skating on Blue Sea Lake, Québec, Canada
In Canada, when we get frigid colds spells (minus the snow), the lakes will freeze up solid and thick enough for ice skating. As a kid, we used to pair up while holding a bedsheet and we would sail across the lake. Lots of fun but very risky nonetheless.

@kimkimkim this remind me of four kids who died in my town here in Mass, they were playing in a river cover by ice, and one of the kid sink , the other kid try to help him and also sink too, and the third one did the same but sink together with the first two, the four kid survive and call for help, very sad history

Chances of it happening are pretty small atm. It started snowing, which slows down the ice build-up and ruins the ice surface. Last race was in 1997. We dont get very good winters often, so if such a race is happening, its a massive event. Thousands of skaters starting early in the morning. not to mention the hundreds of thousands people watching along the track, and millions watching it on tv.
The hopes are that the snow melts and levels the surface, while a new period of frost More..

Hey guys great vid and a Great Lake. My grandparents have had a cottage on Blue Sea for 70 plus years. We are down at the north end about five cottages down from Moose Head lodges. In the same bay as the guy with the helicopter who used to have a sea plane with the motor on top. Can't wait we are going up in a few days for ski doing and ice fishing along with some drinks in front of the fire place. Tell me is the lake making noises at night.
