Cyber Attack or Media Hack?

(Global Pulse: July 17, 2009) When hackers hit government websites in the U.S. and South Korea, was it a cyber salvo in a new form of warfare, or just hackers causing mischief? Some media went on a cyber field day, pointing fingers at that international bad boy, North Korea. But in this case, the hype may be more of a threat than the hackers.

hackers are gonna launch nuclear missles! oh no!

hackers have been considered terrorists by the Secret Service since i was a kid....

can you imagine a buncha grown up Secret Service guys chasing down a "terrorist perpetrator" only to find out that they have been outwitted and at the mercy some pimple faced American youth who has NO terrorist agenda whatsoever....they were simply curious

    • I see your point about hackers in general, especially years ago. Today, Hackers steal medical records, bank funds, and other personal info.

And the US military sees it differently. If an enemy were able to 'bring down' certain servers, like the GPS system, in time of war. What then? The Chinese military has stated that hackiing would assist in negating the US technogical advantage. The DoD takes this stuff seriously.
