When I realized what you were talking about, I stopped and watched the video in question. Then I came back and listened to your take.
If a meeting is public (as is required for most legislative assemblies) then video coverage should be allowed. I saw no reason to detain that man or to prevent him from filming.

You are very articulate, and I respect your position on this.
I am not a lawyer, but I would think that both cases could result in lawsuits. I don't know if the courts will side with the reporter or with the board's desire to ban video reporting, but I am almost certain the woman in her yard will get six figures out of this.

Well put. People are afraid to be recorded because then they can't lie their way out of a situation where they were in the wrong. I think each person should just go about their day recording everything and anything, including things that people say (with permission of course). In doing so, we will promote honest statements, law abiding actions, and general civility to others.

Hey train good vid mate. Here is a link to a follow up story of the woman arrested by the police who you mention in this video. The local residents held a meeting of support for the woman and the police came and issued tickets to the people attending for parking violations for not being the correct distance from the curb.
Anyway here is the link for a better description and video, it's not been uploaded to LL yet so might be a worth while update to your original post.

Here's an idea. Go to the high crime area of your city and film an arrest. Get into it with the cops. Be a hero for us. Put your money where your mouth is.
It's not blind obedience, it's being sensible.
