Those "clowns" can be very neccessary sometimes. During the war they would be doing all that on some random road base and those may not be all that secure.

That was propably just for the demonstration. Even so, MPs do also bodyguard duties for important personell like pilots.

Cool :) I wonder what the guy in the beginning was doing, swiping the cockpit with that pole with the ribbons on the end... Removing static electricity maybe?
