Retro TV Barnaby Jones
This video is part of an ongoing project to build a retrospective TV archive made exclusively for the LL community on my Retro TV channel at

Originally aired from 1973 to 1980 with a grand total of 178 episodes. This geriatric hero was popular with viewers. If you want some homey philosophizing and sage advice that will get you through any difficult problem then Barnaby is your man. In fact there is no problem facing mankind today that couldn't be solved if we just listen to Barnaby. lol
This show is a good example of crossover. William Conrad as the character Cannon made appearances on Barnaby Jones. Likewise Barnaby appeared on Cannon. Cannon helped Barnaby track down his sons killer on his show. It would be interesting if they had more show crossover like that today.
It's as good a time as any to explain that I make an attempt to keep as many of the credits to a show as possible for archival, research and educational purposes. That's why the scene where the antagonist is getting out of jail is included here, it's for the credits. There are some shows where this is just not possible in the presentation method I chose, as the credits go on for too long. In the end my hope is that this archive will serve more than just entertainment purposes.
Guest star Corinne Camacho looks like shes high in this opening. lol
The Country squire commercial, that wagon was built like a tank! Obviously cars of that type were the target of parody with the family wagon in National Lampoons Vacation. I'd love to own one today though. Those bumpers scream "Get in my way I dare Ya!". Two plus tons of car lol!
About the QM logo and 10pm report bumper. I used this version of the opening and closing theme and credits for obvious reasons, to bring you the best audio and video quality I could dig up. I then added the QM logo and 10pm report bumper after it. However, the QM Production logo and news bumper about Castro were truly from the end of a Barnaby Jones broadcast. Just not this particular episode seen here.

Not a lot of electronics to screw up the engine. Those wagons looked like they floated like an ocean liner on the road. Probably has the same turning radius as one too. lol

The one thing that always amazed me about Barnaby Jones is how he was such a crack shot with a snub-nosed .38. Always thought the theme was kick-ass. Seeing that Jerry Goldsmith did it answers that question.
No clip of Linda Hamilton? Saw her name in the end credits!

Funny you mention his marksmanship. In most episodes he wounds the antagonist and the police take them away. In this episode the bad guy has Barnaby dead in the sights of a rifle, Barnaby calls his horse who rears up behind the bad guy distracting him. Barnaby shoots him once, lays him out deader than a doornail.
That's "Lynn" Hamilton not Linda Hamilton of terminator fame in the credits.
