The man who killed himself after police say he shot a woman near
Stettler, Alta., was a licensed funeral director in Red Deer, CBC has
learned.Dustin Goddu, 31, was a licensed funeral director who worked in Red Deer. (Parkland Funeral Home)Dustin Goddu, 31, was a "super employee," said Gord Mathers, owner of Parkland Funeral Home.


Goddu worked at the home for seven years and was one of the most
compassionate and caring people he has ever worked with, said Mathers.
Mathers told CBC News he did not detect any signs that Goddu was troubled.


A minister, who's now retired but who worked with Goddu, said she is
in total shock and that she would never have seen this coming.
Goddu was perfect for his job with grieving families because he was
so gentle and compassionate, said Leanne Hall who met with Goddu's
family Tuesday morning.

  • She sure did the right thing there. Better to risk being shot where you can have some hope of getting help than to just submit and end up as a corpse in the bush somewhere.

    She teaches first aid courses for people in the oil industry. Good looking girl.
