A man has been rescued from fast-flowing flood waters in Quanzhou City, after a five-hour struggle.
Chinese state television broadcast dramatic footage showing the man trapped against a high wall as the flood waters rushed past him.
At one point he was engulfed by a huge pile of vegetation, as a rescue worker tried frantically to get hold of him and pull him up.
The middle-aged man managed to stop himself getting washed away by gripping water weeds jammed at the flood gate of the reservoir.
However, when rescuers were trying to pull him up, they found he had been tightly bound by tanged weeds.
After untangling him, he was rescued at the second attempt, China's CCTV reported.
