Taxation

Interesting idea on taxation based on consumption.
Governments would still have a fairly good idea on revenue flows.
A persone should only be taxed once if at all. You shouldn't earn it get taxed,. Spend it , get taxed. Invest it, get taxed on earnings. Save it, get taxed on dividends. Decide to sell something you have bought like a boat or a car or a house and ... pay tax on it.
One tax , one time and that's all.

  • He does make a point. Our money is taxed so many times it would appear absurd to anyone from the outside looking in.

  • Like the Star Wars movie, how many times can you make money on the same damn thing?

I bought my house at fair market price with cash, and paid taxes on it during the purchase. No mortgage, no loans. Six years later, I am still paying taxes on that same house every year. Pretty soon, I will have paid more taxes than what the house is worth.

If I would lose my job or get sick, and can't pay the annual taxes, the government will take my house from from me, regardless of my health or job status. More..

  • The fairest tax possible. Put a flat rate on all transactions whether it be a pair of shoes or a mansion or huge sea-going ship.

  • Jess, you're a smart guy. Problem is you're trapped in your pro-wrestler persona which ruins your credibility. Lose the sunglasses, pony tale, macho-man voice and black-on-black wardrobe and more people will take you seriously.

    • @truth2012 Or, people can wise up and stop judging people by their appearance. I personally am less inclined to trust a person who goes out of his way to "instill confidence". Why the charade? It is a manipulation, and a lie. Why trust a person who is lying with his very appearance? I don't get the impression that Venturas style is anything but a reflection of his personality. That is to say, that he is genuine. If people are so fucking STUPID that they can't recognize a good idea beca More..

    • @wellybub I agree with what your saying. Unfortunately, the people that need to listen to Ventura are that stupid. So for the sake of getting his message across, it might be worth it.

  • I like this idea, problem is, it would never pass. Especially with more than 1/2 of people NOT paying taxes. I would be interested to see what the nationaly sales tax would have to be in order sustain our spenders in DC.

    • @gammyland - There is a simple solution for the problem of poor people paying more taxes.

Simple explanation: They could get a card that gives them a sales tax credit. It would work like an ATM/Credit card, except that it only applies to the tax portion of the transaction. whenever they buy something, the sales tax would be deducted from the card. The card is reloaded each month and the card has no cash value, and the tax credits do not roll over.

  • It is an interesting idea. But I'm not sure exactly what he means. Is it kind of how it works already. I hear that the word "income" is defined differently in English, but income could be what you earn selling something in a given time period, right? A job is basically commerce. You sell a service. So it could somehow fit under sales tax. So wouldn't the government get you anyway? You know they would try!

Also, if you only pay taxes when buying things, they would have to raise the sa More..

  • but, this is how they have been duping the sheeple into thinking they are not paying as much tax as they really are, history shows when a government taxes above x % there has always been a revolt,if you factor all these taxes in,(which by the way,all these taxes didn't exist 100 years ago),we have passed that point long ago, keep letting them politicians write laws(that's not their job people),40k new laws went into effect on 1.1.2012,how many are you aware of?if 'we the people' think a new law is More..
