Jewish American activist Anna Baltzer will offer a multi-media presentation entitled “Life in Occupied Palestine” on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at May Memorial Unitarian-Universalist Society, 3800 E. Genesee St., Syracuse.

Anna, an award-winning author who has given hundreds of presentations across the country, is a Columbia graduate, Fulbright scholar, International Women’s Peace Service volunteer and the granddaughter of Holocaust refugee.

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle says this about Anna’s presentation, “Baltzer sheds light on the important political, historical, and emotional complexities of the challenges facing Israel and Palestine.”

She was raised in California with a traditional view of the Palestinian issue. Anna’s perspective changed when she worked for several months in the West Bank.

“Our aim is to educate people about the plight of the Palestinians living under Israeli occupation and to explain why peace is not achievable without a just resolution for the displaced and disinherited people of Palestine” says event organizer Pat Carmeli who lived in Israel for ?? years.

The talk is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by CNY Working for a Just Peace in Palestine and Israel, a community educational, advocacy and organizing project coordinated by the Syracuse Peace Council that provides grassroots education and generates political pressure needed to re-orient US policy toward a just peace. The presentation is co-sponsored by the May Memorial Social Justice Committee.
