Behar: Abortion is an Easy Decision to Some People; Profit From It is Immoral (huh?)

On The View yesterday, abortion came up as a topic. As most of you know, Sherri & Elisabeth are both people of faith. Joy & Barbara are just heathens.

The story came up because of a recent director of a Planned Parenthood clinic, Abby Johnson, changed her beliefs and quit after seeing the actual abortion on the ultrasound. Not surprising, Joy said a lot of people think abortion is no big deal, More..

  • Abortion should be a personal decision. If it was a male health issue, men would always allow it to be legal.

Women have to fight for equal rights, and abortion is a really key equal rights issue.

    Nobody.
I haven't bothered to watch any of her posts for a long time now.
I could just turn on my tv if I wanted to watch the crap she posts.
By posting crap like this she sets herself up for comments to be made about the crap she posts.
    Don't want comments?????
    Don't post.
Or you could be like those sissy boys who post and don't allow comments.
    What would be the point?
To hear yourself talking through some tv "personality"
Watch tv all you want, just keep it off here please, unless it is funny or educational.
If I don't watch glen beck on tv I am certainly not going to watch him here.
I don't know, maybe she is trying for the ever elusive demographic of rednecks that don't have cable tv but do have internet...............
    BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA
    As if that even exists.........

So the father has no rights to the decision of the child being murdered, equal? Isn't it half of the males child?

  • You make the choice of having a Pepsi or a coke. Abortion is a decision to end a human life. You take everything from the aborted baby. Any love, joy, laughter or experience a person has in their lifetime. I couldn't think of a more cruel thing to do.

Biologically speaking pregnancy is a dangerous condition for a human female - she risks death, complications to her previously working systems, problems from changed diet and hormones, and a wealth of other health risks that modern medicine attempts to marginalize.

    The male is not pregnant.

Your emotional anecdote sounds like stopping potential. Potential life is not equivalent to actual life that has experienced a history of being alive.

An acorn is not a tree. It's a seed of a tree, ready to become one under the right circumstances. An egg is not a chicken. It's the egg of the chicken, ready to become one under the right circumstances.

In my opinion if there is no basic structure for a developing brain then there is no "experience" and you are only talking about potential life. I think you'd have to invoke magical beliefs (like a soul) to argue that a human is a human before it even has the framework for a brain.

Where do you "draw the line" for human life as life and why?

Oh, so you see my point then, If she assumes the risk then the males responsibility is only half in raising the child or paying half of the expenses. Hmmm

No, I don't agree that the civil/legal responsibilities levied on the father are equal to the medical risks of the mother.

I'm not saying the legal system is perfect when it comes to this responsibility either - it could probably be modernized on this issue (adoptive couples or same sex couples for example).

Additionally the male has a choice in participating in the initial sex knowing that a potential result is paying for children. The female also shares future financial responsibility in ADDITION to medical risks. That extra burden of having to bear the child is what creates an additional medical decision for the person affected - the female.

Short version - there are no medical risks to the male resulting from a female getting impregnated. All medical decisions therefore lie with the female.
