Country Joe Vietnam song
Catchy song. Fits well with today's wars. Shame nothing was learned since this song was performed at Woodstock.

A successful War requires two major sacrifices from the American People. First, Brave Men and Women must go overseas and risk their lives and secondly, those left at home must refrain from being whiny little bitches.Apparently, one of those is asking a bit too much

@Fire37Rescue
"Whiney little bitches" is a great description. It sets the correct tone and evokes a perfect mental image.
that, or I am just thinking of the average OWS protestor.

@Fire37Rescue Hollywood and others have successfully painted the Viet Nam Soldiers as baby eaters and drugged up looser's.
They were soldiers and they paid a price that the hip left at woodstock just wouldn't understand.
Their fathers just fought WWII and Korea, They went and they did what was asked of them.
I am proud to have known them.

@Fire37Rescue Kind of betrays a sick mentality. That wars are not to defend the homeland from invaders, but to invade some people far away. So what if the Vietnamese turned commies? They ain't gonna come and fuck with you. They're gonna stay at home redistributing their wealth. They might consider it their right to choose their own political system. But shit, hey, some wars I find necessary. WWII, I think, was necessary. Good of ya to come in after Pearl Harbor. Vietnam seemed more like an orgy More..

The lesson learned is that when you go to war, you don't incrementally escalate or match the enemy blow for blow. You hit them as hard as you can where they are and with everything you've got until they lose the will to fight or are destroyed. Not doing so is the reason why we have unresolved conflicts that last for decades.

A truly great anti-war song that helped define the era.
