put a piece of smoked salmon on a tray and cover it with 70% salt and 30% sugar and some fresh dil. Put something heavy on it and leave it in the fridge for 24 hours. Slice it thin and pour on it a little of olive oil. Hmmmmmm fuckin delicious!

I was told by a friend that "farmed" Salmon do not have pink meat, they have to put dye in the food to make the meat pink, Only wild Salmon are naturally pink.
Just wondering if it's true.

I'm with Hugo on that, whats in the dye compounds and what other additives are required in the feed and chemicals used in the Holding tank care? Just Curious. I'm sure whatever it is, it better than what is floating around in our Present day World's Oceans.

@Hugo Frikyerself It is true. Salmon flesh gets a lot of its color from the fish's diet. Shrimp, crab, and that sort of thing turn them pinker. Farmed fish flesh is dyed because those fish have eaten mostly fish meal their whole lives.
