The late great Georg Plasa, in his Judd BMW 134

For those who haven't heard of Georg Plasa, he's the legendary Hillclimb driver who rose to the top of his sport driving a completely custom fabricated BMW 134 powered by a high performance Judd V8 engine with as much power as a Formula 1 car. You won't hear anything that sounds quite like it unless you're at an F1 event. To call this car extreme would be an understatement and the fact that Georg Plasa had the will and driving ability to push this extreme vehicle to its limits at Hillclimb events throughout Europe is a testament to both his character and guts. He was highly respected and loved by his family, friends, crew and race fans such as myself. A full bio on Georg and his team is on his team website, 134judd.de. Sadly, Georg Plasa died at the age of 51 when his 134 crashed during the July 7th 2011 Coppa Carotti in Italy. It is believed mechanical failure, not driver error, led to the loss of steering and front braking ability which caused his car to miss a high speed turn. Videos of the crash are available online, and since his family, team and friends requested it not be posted in the first place I will leave it out. RIP Georg Plasa, you will be missed and remembered.
