Sulphuric acid?
Sulphuric acid is normally clear (pure) or a straw brown colour (commercial grade). The liquid pouring from the container was a more like the colour of brake fluid. Concentrated sulphuric acid is also oily looking.

you're right there wgt', this is a commercial drain cleaning product that's about 91% sulphuric acid, still very nasty though, even where I get it from the guys handle it carefully.

@3verygoodreasons The container the acid come in is plastic. Sulfuric is stored in plastics. Your car battery has Sulfuric acid in it and guess what the battery case is made out of, PLASTIC.
